Old Memories by WovenTales Old Memories by WovenTales
This is for the Week 182 of the ATG Alumni: A Plush Pony / Ponies with Toys

I know that the Bon-Bon-is-a-changeling thing isn't as popular as it used to be (especially as she's (apparently) human in Rainbow Rocks), but Mendacity left enough of an imprint that when I was trying to figure out who'd have a plush of another pony, Mendax/Bon-Bon came to mind; I was thinking of this as after an alternate ending, where Lyra can't accept her true nature. If I had had time, I would have included Bon-Bon's saddlebags and a cave background to make it more explicit, but I paced myself rather poorly. Well, those will be version two, if I feel like revisiting this some time.

While I'm not specifically looking for critique on this piece, it's always welcome—as long as it's not about their hind legs and hips. I realized that I had attached them strangely after I had put too much work into them to easily fix.

I don't even know the story but this is pretty poignant!

Glad I got the right emotion in there; thanks! The story's on FiMFiction here, if you wanted to check it out. The characters are really fun, and I loved the Celtic mythology it pulled in.

Bah. Those Sirens looked pretty darn human in Rainbow Rocks, too. Bon Bon's still totally a changeling in my book!

I absolutely adored Mendacity. If you do decide to revisit this, I would love to see it.

Good point. If anything, the human world's changelings are probably more like those in Mendacity than Equestria's canon insectoid ones, given that Equestrian magic is so foreign and Mendacity was largely based on real mythology. Thanks for helping me keep Mendax in my headcanon! That side of things would be really fun to see—at least Lyra's going to the hub of strange activity in the world, so she might take it a bit better than, say, a human Twilight.
